What is Summer Camp about?

Modeled after collegiate and MFA workshop programs, the high school and early college summer workshop is geared towards 13-19 year olds who desire to immerse themselves in their craft and make long-lasting connections with other writers. This program will require writers to bring forward two pieces of writing that they desire to be workshopped by their small, 10 person workshop cohort. At the end of the program, writers will leave with two polished pieces or a critiqued-full piece, techniques to improve their craft, ideas for future works, and life-long friends.

What is included?

Daily workshops in which writers will provide discussion and feedback for a piece, two authors a day.
Daily writing sprints and exercises
Exposure to literature and craft-building tools
Community feedback and networking
Professional development workshops

FICTION: Beginner, Experienced, and Novel
POETRY: Beginner, Experienced, and Chapbook/Full Length Poetry Book

TYWI's summer camp program has been a godsend. It's provided me with an awesome community of young and committed writers as well as helped to jumpstart me getting my writing out into the world for absolutely free. It's also one of the first writing programs I've ever joined that welcomes younger writers and accepts them from all over the world. The prompts, challenges and workshops constantly encourage me to be better, and pairing that with regular feedback from the community, it's done wonders to show me my weak spots and push me to work on them. TYWI's Summer Camp is a wonderful program for many young writers such as myself! I had never joined a writing camp, but because of how accessible this camp was, I said to myself, why not? I immediately felt welcomed and was very impressed by how many people had also decided to join. From the past weeks I have been in this camp, I've learned so many things and have seen much improvement in my writing through the challenges and feedback. Everyone here is so nice and it's great to be surrounded by other writers who are so supportive of each other! I'm so glad that I decided to join the camp. Thank you TYWI for this opportunity!

This summer camp has been absolutely incredible. It utilizes the internet and connections to both challenge, and encourage the growth of young writers. There aren't many easily accessed programs for young writers, and this is not only online, but it is also free. I have found myself growing exponentially in the past couple weeks, and I cannot wait to look back at my growth when all is said and done. I can't imagine how much more I will grow. It has also been a lot of fun to form relationships, grow confidence in my writing, and have a place for feedback. I think that is supper essential for writers of any age. Thank you so much
